Fig.9 - Planet Jupiter and the Galilean moons during the partial lunar eclipse in Falera, Switzerland on July 16, 2019. Since it can be rather difficult to focus a DSLR camera on an already eclipsed rising moon, Jupiter was used for focusing. The image of the moons Callisto, Ganymede, Io, Europe and the planet Jupiter (from left to right) was taken at the prime focus of a Teleskop-Service 8-inch f/5 ONTC Newtonian reflector riding on a Tom Osypowski equatorial platform (unguided) with a Lifepixel h-alpha modified Nikon D7500 camera (0.5 s at f/5.75 and ISO 100). A 1.15x coma corrector slightly enlarged the focal length of the telescope. The small image at the top right shows a shorter exposure (1/125 s at f/5.75 and ISO 100), displaying some structure in Jupiter's atmosphere. Both images were taken at approximately 22:00 CEST - shortly before moonrise.
